NATO has supplied Ukraine with 230 tanks
NATO allies and partners have supplied Ukraine with 230 tanks and 1,550 armored vehicles to help it counter the Russian offensive and retake territory. This was stated on Thursday by the secretary general of the Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg. "Allies and US-led contact group partners have sent Ukraine 230 tanks, 1,550 armored vehicles and significant amounts of ammunition, or 98 percent of the promised equipment, to equip nine new armored brigades," Stoltenberg said during a press conference with Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. "In total, the Ukrainians therefore have the necessary capabilities to reconquer more territory," stressed the head of the Atlantic Alliance. Since the start of the Russian offensive in February 2022, NATO members have also supplied Soviet-made MIG-29 air defense systems, artillery and fighter jets from Poland and the Czech Republic. They have also trained tens of thousands of Ukrainian servicemen to the weapons used by NATO armies. However, Jens Stoltenberg urged never to underestimate Russia. "Russian forces may lack in quality, but they make up for in quantity and Moscow continues to mobilize more personnel," he said. "We will stand by Ukraine as long as it takes and provide it with what it needs," the Norwegian official assured.
