Rachel Carrie's story is as difficult a story to tell as it is to believe. Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Israeli regime's assassination of Rachel Corrie, an American pro-Palestinian activist, in the Gaza Strip, but her parents are still fighting for accountability and justice.
“I am in Rafah. A city of 140 thousand people, 60% of whom are refugees - many already two or three times. At the moment, the Israeli army is building a 12m high wall between Rafah and the border. 602 houses have been completely bulldozed and the number of partially destroyed houses is even higher. […] The presence of us international volunteers fluctuates between five and six people. There is a demand for a constant night presence to guard a well on the outskirts of Rafah, as the two largest wells were destroyed last week,” Rachel Corrie wrote in her diary* in February 2003, at two weeks after his arrival in occupied Palestine.
