Poland accuses Scholz of trying to interfere in the country's affairs
Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau accused German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of attempting to interfere in the country's internal affairs.In this regard, Rau wrote on his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter): “The latest statement by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz violates the principles of sovereign equality of countries.”
Stating that Scholz did not need to worry about Poland's current immigration process, the senior Polish diplomat added: "Respect Poland's sovereignty and refrain from making statements that are detrimental to bilateral relations."Earlier, Scholz ordered tighter controls at Germany's borders, especially on the border with Poland, due to a sharp increase in the number of illegal immigrants.Earlier, the Polish Foreign Minister accused the European Union of having imperialist tendencies and called the efforts of the German government the driving force behind this trend.
The Polish government's senior diplomat further noted that large EU countries such as Germany have undeniable economic advantages and population size, which allows them to receive a higher number of votes in the decision-making process.Then, asking Berlin to abandon its economic and political ambitions, the Polish foreign minister stressed: “If Germany wants to protect the European Union from imperialism, it should think about itself, and not try to lead a restrictive bloc.”
