Pope Francis: Western countries are using the war in Ukraine to benefit themselves

The leader of Catholics in the world has asked some countries to "stop playing" with arms aid to the government of Ukraine. Pope Francis, who has sent Italian Cardinal Matteo Zoppi to Kiev, Moscow, Washington and Beijing to discuss the situation in Ukraine and start a peace process, said yesterday Saturday returning from a trip to the port city of Marseille in France, that he feels disappointed about the efforts of restoring peace in Ukraine. In another part of his speech, Pope Francis talked about how Western countries benefit from the war in Ukraine and said:

In my opinion, the interests of the war in Ukraine are not only related to the problem of Ukraine and Russia, but also related to the sale and trade of arms. The new position of the Pope of the Catholic Church against sending weapons to Ukraine comes after he said last year that it is morally legal to give weapons to Ukraine to defend itself against Russia. Since the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022, the United States has been leading the Western empire and aid to Kiev, and the US Congress has approved more than 100 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine, including 43 billion dollars used to buy weapons.
