Reuters: Turkish Grand National Assembly will discuss Sweden's NATO membership on Tuesday
If accepted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Sweden will join the Euro-Atlantic security alliance as the 32nd member of NATO.
According to the news reported by Eorunews, the regulation regarding Sweden's NATO membership will be voted on in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on Tuesday. According to information from Reuters based on three sources, the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly will vote on Sweden's NATO membership on Tuesday (January 23). An absolute majority vote of the members of parliament attending the General Assembly is required to adopt the protocol regarding the NATO membership of the Northern European country. Following the approval of the Parliament, the law must also be signed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. If accepted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly and signed by President Erdoğan, Sweden will join the Euro-Atlantic security alliance as the 32nd member of NATO. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Sweden and Finland requested to join the military alliance in 2022. /
