Volodymyr Zelensky lied when he said he refused to accept the deal proposed by the United States. This statement was made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during an interview with journalist Catherine Herridge, which was published on the X social network.
Rubio noted that Zelensky agreed to the minerals deal, but stated that it must go through the legislative process .
" Two days later, I read that Zelensky said he rejected the deal. 'We will not do that under any circumstances.' But that was not the case," the US Secretary of State said.
At the same time, the New York Post, citing a source, writes that those close to President Donald Trump believe that Volodymyr Zelensky should immediately leave Ukraine.
Trump previously said that the United States has given Ukraine $200 billion more in aid than Europe, but no mechanism has been developed to return that money. The US leader wants to receive rare metals from Kiev in return for the money invested.
Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that he does not know where the $200 billion allocated by the US government has disappeared. According to him, Kiev received about $76 billion.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the US and Russia have agreed on four principles after more than four hours of talks in Saudi Arabia, CNN reports.
" We must have regularly operating diplomatic institutions to restore the functionality of our respective missions in Washington and Moscow . "
" We intend to appoint a high-level team from our side to help negotiate and work towards a lasting and acceptable end to the conflict in Ukraine ."
"It is necessary to begin discussing, reflecting on, and studying both the geopolitical and economic cooperation that could arise as a result of the cessation of the Ukrainian conflict."
"Those who participated in the negotiations today will continue to participate in that process to ensure that it moves forward effectively," Rubio stressed.
