The West must accept the new balance of power: Lavrov

Russia and the United States discussed during talks in Riyadh that it is time for the West to accept the new balance of power in the world and build relations on respect, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

" It is time for the West to accept the new balance of power and start building relations with the majority of countries in the world on the basis of mutual respect. We also talked about this in Riyadh with our American colleagues and agreed on the main thing: international relations should be built on the basis that each country has its own national interests," Lavrov was quoted as saying by the website of the Russian diplomatic service .

Lavrov also noted that terrorist groups around the world are fueled by Western arms supplies flowing out of Ukraine. He called on G20 partners to stand with a "united front" in the fight against the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and racism in the year of the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II.

Recall that on February 18, high-level Russian-American talks were held in Riyadh. Russia was represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov. The American side was represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Mike Walz, and Special Envoy for the Middle East Stephen Whittock.

After the meeting, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that it "did not go badly" and that a serious conversation took place on all issues.
