Russia criticizes the US for the use of cluster bombs by Kiev
Russia has pointed the finger at the United States after an attack by Ukrainian military forces with cluster munitions (provided by Washington) killed RIA Novosti reporter Rostislav Zhuravlev and wounded several other journalists to varying degrees of severity. "Rostislav died as a result of an attack by the Ukrainian armed forces using cluster munitions," the Russian embassy in Washington said in a statement. The statement said civilians in residential areas were being targeted by Ukrainian forces, and accused the United States of supplying Kiev with cluster munitions widely banned under the UN Convention. The killing of the Russian war correspondent took place in a Ukrainian attack on the southern Zaporizhzhia region. According to the Russian Defence, the RIA Novosti journalist was shot during the evacuation, and died of wounds caused by the explosion of cluster bombs”.
