Russia: Israel to end military action against Syria
The first deputy of Russia's ambassador to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, has called on the Zionist Israeli regime to end its military provocations against Syria. "Israel is continuing its arbitrary military actions against Syria," Polyansky said Tuesday at a UN Security Council meeting, according to Sputnik News. He added that during a series of Israeli Air Force attacks on Damascus on February 19, a residential building in a busy neighborhood was hit by a rocket, among other things. “Five people were killed and another 15 injured. One of the fragments of an Israeli missile intercepted by Syrian air defenses fell 300 meters from the Russian embassy building in Damascus,” Polyansky said. He continued: "We condemn in the strongest possible terms Israeli military actions, which are in gross violation of international law, and urge Israel to refrain from military actions that have grave consequences for the entire region." Such actions by the Israeli military are "unacceptable", especially at a time when the international community is trying to help Syria with the aftermath of the devastating earthquake, according to the Russian Deputy Ambassador.
