The Kremlin spokesman said that Russia welcomes the efforts of international mediators to find a solution to the war in Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with the Novosti news agency that Russia is ready to reach peace and agreement with the Ukrainian government.
The Washington Post newspaper, citing statements from American officials, wrote that in the next few months Ukraine will begin negotiations with Russia to end the war, and that it will probably have to cede part of its territory to Russia during such negotiations.
The war in Ukraine began because the West ignored Moscow’s security concerns regarding the expansion of the borders of the NATO military alliance (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). Moscow attacked Ukraine in February 2022 after ignoring the security concerns of the West, especially the United States.
During this time, NATO member countries abandoned the diplomatic option of establishing peace and continued the war with the heavy military aid they provided to Kiev, and openly followed the Kremlin's policy of provocation by equipping Ukraine with more advanced and heavier military weapons.
