Russian intelligence: US and UK planning terrorist attacks against our facilities in Syria

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has warned that the United States and Britain are planning terrorist attacks on the country's military facilities in Syria so that the situation in the country does not deteriorate and peace and stability do not return to the country.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the SVR said that since the fall of Syrian President Bashar Assad's government earlier this month, Washington and London have set a goal of "maintaining chaos in the Middle East" in order to permanently monopolize and control the region.

However, - according to the report - Russia's military presence on Syria's Mediterranean coast has been hindering their plans. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service has further revealed that, in order to remove this obstacle, British intelligence services are coordinating plans to carry out a series of terrorist attacks against Russian military facilities in Syria.

According to the SVR, the task of carrying out their attacks has been entrusted to fighters of the so-called Islamic State (IS), formerly ISIS/ISIL, who have recently been released from prison after the regime change in Syria.

The Russian intelligence agency's statement continued: "According to available information, representatives of the British MI6 and the American CIA intelligence agencies recently tasked IS commanders under their control with carrying out a series of attacks on Russian military bases. To carry out this dirty work, the terrorists have been provided with attack drones."

The SVR said: in order to conceal their participation in the planned attacks on Russian military facilities, the US and British military commands have ordered their air forces to continue carrying out strikes on IS positions in Syria but with prior warning and notification to the terrorists.

According to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, London and Washington hope that such provocations will force Russia to withdraw its troops from Syria and, at the same time, the new Syrian authorities will be accused of failing to control extremists and extremists.
