Stoltenberg: NATO will have to strengthen its eastern border
During the Vilnius summit next July, NATO will have to "concentrate on strengthening its eastern border" and, in particular, the Baltic region. This was stated yesterday, during an interview given to Lithuanian television, by the general secretary of the Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg. The secretary also underlined that a consensus will be sought in Vilnius on increasing the defense contribution of member countries to 2% of GDP. The NATO secretary also hoped that the summit could lead to concrete "new steps and measures" in support of Ukraine. “We have already started preparations and I think the Vilnius meeting will demonstrate our unity in providing support to Ukraine. I am convinced that we will agree on new steps and measures of long-term support to Ukraine through further development of its partnership with the alliance,” he said in conclusion.
