Sudan wants an emergency meeting of the Security Council to discuss the aggression of the Emirates
Sudan has called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council regarding what it called the aggression of the United Arab Emirates.
Sudan accuses the UAE of supporting militants fighting the army, a diplomatic source said on Saturday.
The statement of the government of Sudan has said, "Yesterday, our permanent representative in the United Nations submitted a request for an emergency session of the Security Council to discuss the invasion of the United Arab Emirates against the people of Sudan, and the provision of weapons and equipment to the militias terrorist.
The country's official news agency SUNA has confirmed that the United Nations representative of Sudan, Al-Harith Idriss, submitted the request.
The Sudanese forces of General al-Burhan accuse Abu Dhabi of supplying weapons and equipment, through Chad, to the militia led by General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, with whom they have been fighting for a year. This makes them involved in the crimes committed by the militants, added the representative of Sudan to the United Nations in his movement.
Eight months ago, the American media reported that weapons were discovered in an Emirates cargo plane that was supposed to transport humanitarian aid to Sudanese refugees in Chad.
However, the Emirates has been denying these accusations and explaining that they are baseless. In addition, the government of Chad has also denied these reports. Transitional President of Chad Mahamat Idriss Déby said again last week that this is a lie.
