The first humanitarian aid enters the Gaza Strip
The first phase of humanitarian aid has entered the Gaza Strip in Palestine and brought relief of some kind to those citizens who are facing a dire humanitarian situation.
The first trucks carrying aid goods entered the Gaza Strip today through the Rafah border between Egypt and the strip. According to reports, 20 trucks carrying medical supplies have arrived in Gaza. This is the first humanitarian aid to be sent to the area since the outbreak of war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Movement Hamas two weeks ago. There were calls for Gaza to be given immediate humanitarian aid after Israel blocked the replacement of essential needs including water, food, medicine and fuel. The Rafah crossing has been opened as live footage shows trucks entering the border from Egypt to Gaza. It is not known how long the ferry will remain open. The illegal Israeli regime has so far agreed to allow 20 trucks to enter Gaza.
The trucks are carrying food, water and medicine but no fuel and are entering Gaza through the southern crossing from Egypt. This is happening in a situation where Human Rights Watch has accused the Western powers for what it said is hypocrisy and duplicity for failing to condemn the crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the Gaza Strip. Today, those who claim to defend human rights and who are implementing their political goals by using pressure have completely turned a blind eye to Gaza and the injustice being done against the people of Palestine.
