WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said on Sunday that since Friday the Israeli army had blocked the organization's access to the hospital. The WHO team had to assess the patients' conditions and critical medical needs. Tedros warned of the loss of life at the hospital, which now houses about 200 patients. This includes at least 20 people in urgent need of referral to other hospitals. "There are still about 200 patients in the hospital. At least 20 must be urgently referred to other hospitals to receive health care; Medical referral is the right of every patient," he said in a post on the X network, adding that "the cost of delays will be paid with patients' lives." Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Kadra also said Sunday that "currently there are only four medical workers caring for patients" inside the hospital. Al-Qadra earlier said that Israel's military forces had turned the hospital in southern Gaza into a military barracks. He noted that Israeli forces also detained a large number of medical personnel inside the hospital.
