The United Nations General Assembly has passed a resolution calling on Israel to end its illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territory within one year.

A total of 124 countries voted in favor, while 14, including the United States, opposed the resolution. England, Switzerland, Ukraine, India, Kenya and Germany are among the 43 countries that abstained from voting.

The resolution welcomes the July advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice which stated that Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories and settlements is illegal and should be removed.
