The President of Comoros is seen for the first time since he was attacked with a knife

Comoros Island President Azali Assoumani has been seen in public for the first time since he was attacked with a knife last week and injured. The leader has been seen on the video tape with a heavy bandage on the left side of his head .

President Assoumani has been seen, smiling while getting out of his car, in the presidential buildings in Moroni .Later, he was also seen greeting his advisors and Ministers, before taking the files and starting to read them .

This is the first time the 65-year-old leader has been seen in public after he was attacked by a man identified as a soldier, while attending the funeral of religious leader Salimani-Itsandra, last week outside the capital Moronoi .

After not being seen in public this week during the Maulid celebrations, questions arose about the health of the leader who, according to reports, has postponed his visit to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly that begins on September 22 .

Opposition against the administration of President Azari Assoumani has increased since he appointed his son as Secretary General of the Government. The young man has been given great powers which critics claim is a way to strengthen his family's rule.
