The President of the Council of Europe: Israel must respect international humanitarian law
Charles Michel, head of the European Council, calling the Israeli regime's order to the residents of Gaza to evacuate the city unacceptable, stressed that Israel must respect international humanitarian laws.
According to the Al-Jazeera network, the head of the Council of Europe criticized the actions of the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip and said: "Israel's order to the Palestinians to evacuate some parts of Rafah is unacceptable."
Michel wrote on his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter): "We ask Israel to respect international humanitarian law and refrain from conducting ground operations in Rafah."
Also, the head of the European Council reiterated the position of the European Union in favor of a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue and said: "All efforts to reach a lasting ceasefire must be continued."
He also noted the adoption of the draft resolution of the UN General Assembly regarding the full membership of Palestine in this organization and stressed: "The establishment of an independent Palestinian state is the key to establishing lasting peace and security in the region".
The Arab Group countries' draft resolution for Palestine's full membership in the United Nations was approved by the UN General Assembly on Friday, May 10, 2024 with 143 positive votes.
