Torture and killing of civilians in Syria; who will protect minority communities?

Despite repeated orders from armed groups urging their militias to carry out secret killings against civilians and not to film their killings and crimes against minority communities in Syria, especially the Malawian and Shia communities, even the few leaked videos show the continued horrific atrocities in Syria.

According to various media outlets, these crimes include the execution of these minority communities in the desert, beheadings, heart extraction, torture, religious and sexual humiliation, insults, mutilation of their limbs, burning down their places of worship and homes, bombings and many other crimes.

But the countries of the region and the world continue to remain silent in the face of these crimes and even human rights defenders have turned a blind eye to the atrocities. The media also does not report anything as if democracy, freedom and morality have spread to every corner of Syria.

The independent media outlets say: Despite all the crimes committed against minority groups in Syria, world leaders continue to fight each other in Damascus, each wanting only to meet with new leaders and not to defend human rights or democracy.

Independent media analysis calls on human rights defenders around the world to take action on Israeli crimes in Gaza as well as investigate crimes against minority communities in Syria, and to press for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2254 relating to the protection of civilians in Syria.
