"Trump's transition team has drawn up plans and executive orders to withdraw from the treaty and reduce national monuments to make way for oil and mineral drilling in America," the New York Times reported Saturday morning, according to Al-Alam.
Trump is expected to freeze new permits for natural gas export terminals and also lift strict air pollution standards, the report said.The Trump administration announced its withdrawal from the Paris Agreement in 2019, but the US President Joe Biden administration returned to the agreement in its first months of operation, 107 days after withdrawing from the Paris Agreement.
The Paris climate agreement, also known as the "Paris Agreement", is within the framework of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and some related issues, and was negotiated and unanimously approved by representatives of 197 countries at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.
