Türkiye: Erdogan announces new government team
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced the new government team, where he was sworn in yesterday. The vice president is Cevdet Yilmaz, who is joined by 17 other ministers. The new foreign minister is Hakan Fidan, former intelligence chief, while the holder of the defense ministry is Yasar Guler, former chief of staff of the armed forces.
The Ministry of Justice was entrusted to Yilmaz Tunc, while that of Energy and Natural Resources to Alparslan Bayraktar, deputy minister of the department in the previous government. The new Minister of the Interior is Ali Yerlikaya, that of the Family and Social Services Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas, while the Ministry of Labor and Social Security has been entrusted to Vedat Isikhan. The leadership of the Treasury and Finance Department goes to Mehmet Simsek, while that of the Environment and Climate Change to Mehmet Ozhaseki.
The Ministry of Industry and Technology will be led by Mehmet Fatih Kacir, that of Agriculture by Ibrahim Yumakli, while the ministries of Commerce and Transport and Infrastructure will be entrusted respectively to Omer Bolat and Abdulkadir Uraloglu. Finally, Osman Askin Bak will be the new Minister of Sport and Youth, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy of Culture and Tourism, while the Ministry of Education has gone to Yusuf Tekin and that of Health to Fahrettin Koca.
