The chairman of the United Nations Special Committee to Investigate the Movements of Israel and Palestine (SCIIP) has said, the war of the Zionist regime against Gaza is returning the world to the era of uncontrolled barbarism.
Peter Mohan Maithri Pieris said this while officially presenting the report of the United Nations Special Committee to Investigate Israel's Conduct in Palestine, which compared the policy of the Zionist regime in Gaza to Genocide.
Pieris, who is also Sri Lanka's ambassador to the United Nations, has addressed the member states at the headquarters of the union in New York, saying: "As I present this report, I urge each of you, do not pretend to be a dead ear; history will not forget because we decided not to take action and as we participate (in killing)".
The chairman of SCIIP explained by saying: "before our eyes, we allow you to return to the era of uncontrolled barbarism".
In another part of his speech, Pieris addressed the member states of the United Nations, saying: "the tortures we swore would never happen again, have now been allowed under the guise of technological precision, the manipulation of international laws and the distortion of information".
In addition, he has reminded that the international community's failure to take action in relation to what the Zionist regime is doing against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip not only means failing to protect the lives of innocent people from the destruction of war, but also the cancellation of the international legal system itself. .
The illegal Zionist regime has been carrying out a barbaric and genocidal war against the Palestinians of Gaza for more than a year now, with the full support of several Western powers led by the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom.
At least 43,922 Palestinians have been martyred so far and more than 103,898 others have been injured, most of them women and children in the war that began on October 7, 2023.../
