UN: Israel's war against Lebanon has killed thousands
More than 3,600 people have been killed in Lebanon during Israel's strikes against the Arab nation, according to United Nations humanitarian agencies' staff members.
In a statement commemorating Lebanon's Independence Day on November 22, the UN underlined that the death toll included over 230 children in addition to 15,000 more injured in past months.
"In recent weeks, Israel has rapidly intensified its airstrikes and ground operations, worsening the humanitarian crisis that has devastated citizens," said Ivo Freijsen, the UNHCR Representative in Lebanon. For the Lebanese people in decades, he continued, these have been among the most difficult weeks.
In response to recent attacks on Beirut, Hezbollah's leader said that the Lebanese resistance movement is ready for a protracted war with Israel and promised to hit the center of Tel Aviv.
Emphasizing their dedication to thwarting Israeli aggression, the Hezbollah leader confirmed the group's consistent support for Palestinians in Gaza despite internal conflicts in Lebanon.
