UN report: Israel severely tortures Palestinian prisoners
The United Nations report has accused the soldiers of the Zionist administration of Israel of cruelly torturing Palestinian citizens in the Gaza Strip, including women and men. The severely tortured Palestinians are those who were captured in the genocidal war of the Israeli regime against Gaza.
The report has been prepared by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), where it has been noted that hundreds of people in Gaza have been severely threatened in the restrictions of the Zionist regime of Israel since October last year when the Zionist regime of Israel started the war of genocide in Gaza.
The report revealed that approximately 1,000 prisoners are being held without charge in three military areas within the occupied territories, adding that some of them have died in custody.
The United Nations agency responsible for Palestinian affairs said Monday that after their release, Gaza prisoners returned "absolutely traumatized," reporting severe abuses in detention.
The head of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, has told a press conference that Palestinian prisoners have been subjected to a high level of humiliation, including being given electric shocks, being photographed naked, being deprived of sleep and being kept close to frightening dogs.
The United Nations team of experts has also said that they have received information from institutional sources and civil society organizations and direct interviews, about "sexual violence against Palestinian men and women in the Israeli administration's restrictions, during the occupation of houses and at checkpoints."
A 39-year-old woman from Gaza City, whose identity has not been revealed, said, "The soldiers were very harsh, they beat us and shouted at us in Hebrew."
Last month, a group of experts appointed by the Human Rights Council of the United Nations expressed concern about the violation of rights against Palestinian women and girls in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Meanwhile, UNRWA has also criticized the Israeli regime for ill-treatment of "several of its staff from the Gaza Strip," who were detained by Israeli forces and mistreated in detention.
