The High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations, Volker Türk, said today Friday that he is "shocked" by the increase in violence near the town of El Fasher in western Sudan.
Volker Türk has explained this while the United Nations has warned that it has received only 12 percent of the funding needed to deal with the human crisis in Sudan.
Türk has said that this week he has held discussions with leaders from both sides of the conflict, warning of a human catastrophe if the city is attacked.
He said, he has warned the commanders of the two sides that the fighting in the city of El Fasher will cause a disaster and worsen the situation.
Yesterday, Thursday, Sudan opposed the declaration of the European Union about the situation in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, and the accusations made against the country's army that it is carrying out arbitrary attacks, exactly the same as the Aid Forces of Hurry up, RSF.
The statement issued by the European Union condemned the fierce fighting that is happening in El Fasher between the government army and the Rapid Aid Forces, which has caused a terrible situation for civilians, and called on the parties involved in the Sudanese conflict to allow immediate and unrestricted aid to be sent to humanitarian in El Fasher.
The international community has reiterated calls to avoid Sudan from a human crisis that could plunge millions of people into hunger and death, due to food shortages caused by fighting that has spread in 12 of the country's 18 states.
