UNRWA: Israeli military crimes in Gaza are painful
Military operations conducted by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza have continued to cause hardship for Palestinian children and their families, with the death toll rising.
Military operations conducted by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza have continued to cause hardship for Palestinian children and their families, with the death toll rising.
The Senior Emergency Affairs Officer of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Louise Wateridge, said this while speaking to journalists in Geneva, Switzerland from the central Gaza Strip.
The UNRWA official said: "The media here have reported that on Thursday night, 30 people were killed in this area due to attacks. We have seen horrific images from the area. There are parents looking for their children, children covered in blood looking for their parents, numerous injuries have been reported, and people are still buried under the rubble."
The attacks came a day after the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza.
Ms. Wateridge described the current situation as “painful,” saying daily pain and suffering have become commonplace for Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip.
Israel launched a genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023 and has so far killed at least 45,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and injured more than 105,800 others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under the rubble.
