UNRWA responds to Israeli threats to suspend the international agency's operations
UNRWA has nearly 30,000 staff providing services to Palestine refugees throughout the Middle East.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has issued a statement condemning the Israeli government's threats to suspend the UN agency's operations in East Jerusalem.
The Israeli administration has informed UNRWA that by Thursday, the 30th of this month, it must suspend all aid activities in the East Jerusalem.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees has stressed that the Zionist regime must respect the United Nations and said: United Nations premises should not be subjected to attack and are protected in accordance with the United Nations Charter.
The Israeli parliament (Knesset) previously approved two bills banning UNRWA's activities in the occupied territories and also prohibiting contact between the administration's officials and UNRWA.
