During a press conference, Kirby emphasized the importance of the aid package, stating, “The new military aid to Ukraine underlines our unwavering commitment to support this country in the face of Russian aggression.” His remarks came as Ukrainian forces reportedly launched a surprise attack, further intensifying the conflict that has gripped the region.
Kirby also addressed the situation on the ground, noting that U.S. officials are in close communication with their Ukrainian counterparts to gain a clearer understanding of the recent developments, including the objectives and strategies of Ukrainian forces as they advance into Russian-controlled areas. “We are trying to better understand what Ukrainian forces are doing on the ground, as well as their goals and strategy,” Kirby said.

The package includes a range of critical defense systems and munitions, such as air defense interceptors, ammunition for missile and artillery systems, multi-mission radars, and anti-tank weapons.
“These devices will help Ukraine protect its military forces, its people, and its cities, while also strengthening its capabilities in dealing with Russian attacks on the front line of the war,” Blinken said.
