UNICEF has warned of the spread of war in the region and its effects on children

Referring to the deterioration of the situation of children in the Gaza Strip, the organization stated that children in many countries of West Asia are facing the bitter reality of war today more than ever.

Noting that any escalation of tensions in the region will have dire humanitarian consequences that will threaten the lives of children, UNICEF added that the conflicting parties must exercise restraint and protect civilians.

Earlier, the World Health Organization asked for more than one million polio vaccines to be sent to the Gaza Strip.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the general director of the organization, said that medical workers should have the opportunity to move to the Gaza Strip for vaccinations, and to solve the problems of Gaza and the children, it is necessary to stop the war or establish a ceasefire for at least a few days.

The organization's experts have stated that antibiotic-resistant microbes and bacteria have spread in refugee shelters in Gaza, and as a result, an epidemic of polio among children may break out.

Health sources in the Gaza Strip have also warned of the spread of new and unknown skin diseases in the refugee camps, including dermatitis that destroys the skin and flesh.

Sami Hamid, head of the Al-Nakhil Health Center in Deir al-Balah, in the center of the Gaza Strip, stated that due to the severe health and environmental conditions, new and unknown diseases have recently been discovered in Gaza.

And the placement of drinking water near the tents of the camps and the accumulation of garbage in the streets can become the reason for the spread of diseases and the multiplication of insects.

During the 10-month-long war in Gaza by the Zionist regime, the regime has not achieved anything except massacres, destruction, war crimes, violations of international laws, bombing of humanitarian aid organizations, and the spread of hunger.
