  One of the spokespersons for the United States Department of State, responded to the harassment of the Koran that occurred in front of the Turkish Consulate in New York several days ago. A spokesperson for the US State Department, Saturday (9/9/2023) said that Washington considers abuse of the holy book to be a reprehensible act, but supports freedom of expression as a basic element of democracy. Responding to a letter from the Anadolu news agency regarding the abuse of the Koran in front of the Turkish Consulate in New York, a US State Department spokesman explained, "We do not follow the details of the incident specifically, so we cannot give an opinion about it."

He added, "We consider insulting the holy book to be reprehensible, but the US supports freedom of expression as a basic element of democracy enshrined in the US constitution." A US State Department spokesperson emphasized, "Washington also strongly condemns hateful acts, and emphasizes the dangers such acts pose to individuals." A few days ago, an unknown person abused the Koran in front of the Turkish Consulate in New York, by throwing the Muslim holy book on the ground, then stomping on it.
