US-Israel plot to break up Yemen

The prime minister of Yemen's national salvation government has warned of a diabolical project being developed by some Western countries and the occupying Israeli regime that aims at the unity and territorial integrity of the war-ravaged Arab country. Abdulaziz bin Habtour made the remarks on Monday as Yemen celebrated the 33rd anniversary of the National Day for Yemeni Unity.

He said the scenario has garnered support from a majority of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council member states that have led the devastating war against Yemen. "The Israeli-Western project seeks to disintegrate the fabric of Yemeni society and divide the country into two parts, as was the case before Yemeni unification [which took place on May 22, 1990]," Bin Habtour told Lebanon's Arabic-language al-Mayadeen television news network, noting that "The scenario could be traced back to 1994 and is a regeneration of old storylines." "The Sana'a-based Government of National Salvation has nipped the US-engineered plot in the bud and continues to push back against other hostile moves against Yemen," the senior Yemeni official said.
