ABC News, Saturday (2/12/2023) reported that although the world's public attention was focused on sending humanitarian aid as a result of the Hamas and Israel ceasefire, military observers believed the ceasefire was an opportunity for Hamas to strengthen its troops. Previously, US officials, and the Zionist regime, emphasized and supported a temporary pause in fighting, because they believed a comprehensive ceasefire would benefit Hamas. However, the reality is that the extension of the short-term fighting pause in the Gaza war has led to a week-long ceasefire. Mick Mulroy, former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East, described the lull in fighting in Gaza as a "pure victory" for Hamas, both militarily and politically. "I think Israel knew beforehand that this event would happen, but for him the release of the prisoners was valuable," said Mulroy. At the same time, ABC News explained that although Israeli troops had damaged many buildings in northern Gaza, it was still unclear how many Hamas military buildings were destroyed. In line with Mulroy, former US general, Robert Abrams, said, "The longer the ceasefire is in place, the greater opportunity Hamas will have to add weapons and strengthen its troops."
