USA condemns Israel- Yemeni-American Muslim student is threatened with death
A Yemeni-American Muslim student has received death threats after she condemned Israel's brutal actions against Palestinians in a speech at the City University of New York (CUNY). Fatima Mohammed, who is currently studying for the New York State bar exam, used her speech at the CUNY law school commencement ceremony on May 12 to launch an explicit tirade addressing the recurring fatal assault of the regime against the Palestinians.
News and analysis website Middle East Eye reported on Thursday that "she was subjected to death threats and Islamophobia, causing her and her family to fear for their safety." Democracy now! -- an hour-long American TV -- broadcast an excerpt of the speech, in which Mohammed denounced the occupying regime for having continued "to rain bullets and bombs indiscriminately on the faithful, killing old and young, even attacking funerals and cemeteries". She also highlighted the regime's support for settler violence against Palestinians, noting how Tel Aviv "encourages lynch mobs to target Palestinian homes and businesses."
