Usa, media, sanctions against 'Russian oligarchs' have not worked
For the Wall Street Journal, the West's strategy regarding sanctions against Russian businessmen and their families has proved ineffective. As the publication notes, the sanctions have proved ineffective because not many of the Russian billionaires have publicly condemned the conflict in Ukraine or sold their profits to Russia, writes the American newspaper again, quoting an expert. Considering that most of these oligarchs do not fall within Putin's closest circle, "the sanctions are painful for them and their families, but in any case they are ineffective from a political point of view", writes the newspaper quoting the expert sanctions of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (AKAMS) George Voloshin.
After the introduction in June of this year of the 11th package of EU sanctions against Russia, the personal restrictions of the European community include almost 1800 legal persons and organizations: for natural persons the entry bans that prevent travel are widening in the EU or cross the European territory in transit. President Vladimir Putin earlier said that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term tactic of Europe and the sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire world economy. According to him, the ultimate goal of the West is to make the lives of millions worse.
