Weak Armenia in front of the audacity of Azerbaijan
While the President of Azerbaijan in his New Year's address spoke about an iron fist and threatening Armenia with the resumption of war, the pro-Western Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in his 2024 New Year's address only announced the deepening of relations with the neighbors and tried to justify the handover of Karabakh to Azerbaijan and the mass deportation of Armenians from this region.
Nikol Pashinyan also considered the mass expulsion of Armenians from Karabakh and the retreat of Yerevan in response to the maximalist demands of Baku as the main factor of Armenia's independence and territorial integrity. Elkhan Shahinoglu, director of the Baku "Atlas" research center and an expert of the center attached to the President of Azerbaijan, said: "Pashinyan wanted to say that if he fought for Karabakh, he would lose Armenia." In his speech, Pashinyan used the expression "No matter how brutal, we are proceeding in the only possible way, which will enable us to inherit a state for our generations . " Regional experts and independent political circles consider the recent statements of the pro-Western Prime Minister of Armenia humiliating, which were made from a weak position. Despite the fact that from Nikol Pashinyan's words it is understood that he attaches importance to peace and peaceful coexistence, the other side perceives this way that "the policy of surrendering Armenia to Ilham Aliyev's government continues". It can be said that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's New Year's message is against the positions of many Armenian nationalist politicians and the Armenian people, despite the fact that the Prime Minister of Armenia, adopting a pro-Western policy, is trying to lead Armenia to the USA and its Western allies by rejecting Russia. It is even more clear that speaking from such a weak position will make the opposite party more daring and worsen the situation for Armenia. After the New Year's message of the President of Azerbaijan, the New Year's message of the Prime Minister of Armenia shows that he is powerless against any external aggression and that Armenia will be defeated in the event of a military move. It is in the case that the supporters of the opposition but powerful faction in the political field of Armenia do not have such an opinion. Many of the former politicians of Armenia consider Nikol Pashinyan's policy to be a part of George Soros' plans, which are imposed on the leadership of Armenia through the "Soros Foundation". By training many Armenian politicians, including Nikol Pashinyan, the Soros Foundation was able to cancel the authoritarian policy of three decades of previous Armenian politicians in five years. In fact, the Prime Minister of Armenia, raising the issue of the occupation of Karabakh and accepting the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, tried to reject all the policies of the previous governments of Armenia, starting from the 1980s and after the independence of this country. It is obvious that the adoption of this policy does not correspond to the national interests of Armenia and may cause greater damage to Armenia's statehood, independence and territorial integrity. Summarizing the speeches of the leaders of Baku and Yerevan, it can be said that the adoption of the policy of weakly presenting Armenia to Azerbaijan and the policy of exerting greater pressure on Moscow to withdraw Russian troops from the territory of Armenia are questionable and cause for reflection. That is why, despite the fact that the people are tired of the ongoing war and bloodshed, it is impossible that Nikol Pashinyan's government will be able to remain at the top of the political power pyramid in the next term of RA leadership.
