WFP warns of worsening situation for children in Gaza Strip

95% of the residents of the Gaza Strip are facing severe food shortages; with children having the worst situation. Many children under the age of five in the area suffer from malnutrition. This is in a situation where until now several children injured in the war who were hospitalized for treatment in Gaza have died of malnutrition.

Children, pregnant and lactating mothers and people with disabilities are more vulnerable to malnutrition caused by lack of food. This is because Israel is still preventing the entry of sufficient amounts of food and water aid into Gaza; and apart from doing this, the Zionist regime continues to deliberately attack shops that bake bread and agricultural products.

Cindy Mcain, Director General of the World Food Program (WFP) has said that many children in the Gaza Strip are dying of hunger and those who are still alive are very thin due to lack of nutrition and their bodies lack essential nutrients.
