Why does the West want the Ukraine conflict to continue?
Why does the West want the Ukraine conflict to continue?

Even though this conflict appears to be confined to two countries, Russia and Ukraine, it is in fact a global conflict involving a broad spectrum of parties, namely the US-led Western alliance.

Since the inception of the Ukrainian crisis to this very day, the Western administrations have pursued a Machiavellian strategy. Although the Western bloc professes to be seeking a peaceful solution to end the crisis, whenever the conflict in Ukraine subsides, it takes steps to escalate the war. This approach plainly evinces the West's intentions to keep the conflict in Ukraine raging.

In this regard, the media recently reported that the United States, the Netherlands, and Germany had supplied the Patriot missile system to Ukraine, a dangerous move that might further stoke the flames of the conflict. But the issue persists as to why the West has adopted such a strategy.

To answer this question, several hypotheses can be considered. First, by extending the conflict and turning it into a war of attrition, the West hopes to inflict significant harm on its arch-rival, Russia.

Also, as long as the crisis lasts, analysts argue, Ukraine's debts to NATO countries will continue to climb, allowing the West to profit off the plight of Ukrainians. As a matter of fact, Western officials hold the view that monetary aid and other non-repayable assistance have no place in international dealings. Therefore, every country that has provided weapons to Ukraine has done so based on specific financial guarantees, and the Ukrainian government must repay these debts within the next several years.

We've all heard the idiom "the pot calling the kettle black". Similarly, the West blames other nations for dragging out the Ukrainian crisis even further. The Western governments accuse Beijing and Tehran of actively participating in the Ukrainian conflict by providing Russia with the armaments it needs to conduct the war. According to observers, this strategy is employed by Western powers to scuttle any peace proposal before it even has a chance to take form.

The outlined clues may provide insight into why the West adopts such a dual approach in Ukraine; however, only the passage of time will expose the full scope of the West's ulterior motives. In conclusion, the hypocrisy of the West throughout the Ukraine crisis has been multifaceted and has dire ramifications for the Ukrainian nation.
