Why is the Zionist regime not implementing the agreement to leave Lebanon?

The Zionist regime, after facing strong opposition for refusing to withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon within the stipulated time, has now begun to make false accusations against Iran.

According to the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on November 27, 2024, Israel is required to withdraw from the occupied territories in Lebanon within 60 days, that is, until today, Sunday, January 26, but Netanyahu's cabinet has decided to continue occupying the country's land even after that period ends.

The 11th column of the Zionist regime announced that, at the end of its session, the regime's cabinet decided to extend the ceasefire for one month and to continue the presence of its military forces in southern Lebanon.

An Israeli source also told CNN that the Israeli Cabinet has informed Washington that its forces will remain in southern Lebanon for at least another month after the end of the ceasefire period.

Netanyahu's former Cabinet

However, the deadline requested by Netanyahu's hardline cabinet to leave Lebanon has faced strong opposition. Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations, said: "We continue to call for the full implementation of Resolution 1701 as an inclusive path towards lasting peace, security and stability on both sides of the Blue Line."

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has also warned of the consequences of Tel Aviv's failure to comply with the terms of the agreement and called on the new Trump administration to use its influence on Netanyahu and force him to comply with the terms of the agreement.

Maurice Salim, Lebanon's Minister of Defense, also said: "Lebanon's position on the withdrawal of Israeli forces is firm until the end of the deadline (January 26)." He warned that Israel's refusal to withdraw from the occupied territories threatens the security of Lebanon and the entire West Asian region.

In this regard, Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, in a meeting with General Jasper Jeffers, Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee, stressed the need for Israel to comply with resolution 1701 and stop violating it.

Hezbollah has published a statement calling on countries supporting the agreement and the international community to put pressure on Tel Aviv to fulfill its promises regarding the ceasefire agreement and leave Lebanon after the 60-day period has expired.

The Israeli army has refused to withdraw from the occupied territories of Lebanon, in a situation where over the past two months it has carried out approximately 630 drone strikes, explosions and arson of houses and buildings and carried out clearing operations and shelling, which is a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.

Reports on the ground also indicate that Israeli forces are continuing their operations in residential areas in southern Lebanon. According to the official Lebanese news agency, Israeli forces entered the Bani Hayyan settlement on Friday and destroyed and burned residential and office buildings in the area. There was also a major explosion in the town of "Rab Salasin" which caused extensive damage to infrastructure.

Considering this issue, it is clear that the period requested by Netanyahu's cabinet will not be just one month and that the Zionist regime will once again violate its obligations and continue to occupy the southern Lebanese territories.
