Why will the US provide 26 billion dollars in new military aid to Israel?

After much disagreement between Democrats and Republicans, the US House of Representatives approved a $60 billion aid package for Ukraine, and a $26 billion military security aid package for Israel with 366 votes in favor and 58 votes against.

Why will the US provide 26 billion dollars in new military aid to Israel?

This bill must be approved by the Senate to become law, then once signed by the President, it will become law.

The Senate's first vote on the matter will be held on Tuesday.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the largest military assistance provided by the US to Israel since the conflict began is on October 7, 2023.

Since World War II, Israel has benefited more from US military aid than any other country, and Israel has long been supported by both Republicans and Democrats.

Since Israel's military attack on Gaza, the Biden administration has announced military assistance to Israel at least twice.

In December, the Biden administration approved the supply of nearly 14,000 tank shells and equipment to Israel worth more than $106 million, and a delivery of 155 mm artillery shells and related equipment worth more than $147 million.

In both cases, the White House bypassed U.S. Congressional obstacles to their approval by citing the President's Emergency Powers Act.

Additionally, American government officials have reported more than 100 other military aids to the US Congress. However, because the value of each aid was less than the dollar amount specified for notification to the US Congress, they were not reported separately.

Nearly 7 months since the new wave of war in Gaza erupted, US-made weapons have been widely used by the Israeli army in Gaza.

According to existing reports, many of the weapons used in Gaza include bombs weighing 450 or 900 kg such as the Mark 84 bomb.

In March, the Biden administration authorized the delivery of 1,800 900 kg bombs and 500 225 kg Mark 84 bombs.

The sale of this bomb was approved by the US Congress several years ago, but delivery was only realized last month.

Over the past few years, the budget for US military aid to Israel has been set within the framework of 10-year memoranda, the last of which was signed in 2016, committing Washington to providing $38 billion in military aid to Israel between the 2019 and 2028 fiscal years.

Most US military aid to Israel is defined as the "Foreign Military Financing" program, which provides grants to Israel to use to purchase US military goods and services.

America also contributes about $500 million annually to a joint missile defense system with Israel.

United States military assistance to Israel, along with its political and economic assistance, has always been one of the main factors in the Zionist regime's incitement and expansionism. At the same time, he played a major role in the failure of peace negotiations, including plans to create two states, Israel and Palestine, as well as the prolonging of the Middle East crisis.

Now, in the midst of the ongoing Gaza war, America has become the main partner in crime for Netanyahu's right-wing government, and its hands are clearly stained with the blood of the Palestinian people.

With the provision of 26 billion dollars in military and security aid to Israel, America's participation in the crimes of the Zionist regime is increasing. Because, by providing this assistance, the war-hungry and fascist Netanyahu government will further avoid ceasefire negotiations.(PH)
