1000 days of war in Ukraine and its unknown future

On Monday, November 18, 2024, the United Nations Security Council held a meeting in New York, on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the Ukraine War.

British Foreign Minister David Lammy addressed the meeting as acting chairman of the council and stressed that the war in Ukraine is not only related to the security of the country or Europe, but is a matter of international peace and security and the principles of principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

The 1,000th day of the war in Ukraine was completed last Tuesday, November 19, in a situation that, taking into account recent events, especially the permission of the West to attack inside Russia using Western weapons, makes the war have a future shrouded in darkness.

The war in Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, has left huge human and economic losses. More than 11,000 civilians have been killed and nearly 25,000 injured. However, the real number is more than that.

The destruction of infrastructure and the forced migration of approximately 10 million Ukrainians, including 6.8 million who have sought refuge in other countries, are among the main consequences of this destructive war.

The land of Ukraine has also become one of the most contaminated areas in the world with landmines. According to estimates, the reconstruction of Ukraine requires the cost of 500 billion dollars for ten years. At the same time, both sides of the war, namely Russia and Ukraine, claim that they have caused huge human losses and destroyed a large amount of military equipment of the other side.

At the moment it seems that there is a big change happening in the direction of the war in Ukraine. The biggest change is the re-election of Donald Trump and the start of his second term as president from January 20, 2025, and his attitude to the war in Ukraine as well as his actions where the European countries that support Kiev, especially Germany, have reached this result. that, the war in Ukraine will not continue as it was in the past.

In light of Trump's many and sharp criticisms of Washington's policy regarding the war in Ukraine during his election campaign, in particular providing military aid and weapons worth tens of billions of dollars, European NATO members are concerned about the policy of the Trump administration in relation to Ukraine.

Another important and fateful event is the new and coordinated action of the United States along with the United Kingdom and France to give permission to attack inside the territory of Russia using Western weapons such as the ATACMS missile with a range of 300 km, and cruise missiles. which is considered a new and dangerous event in the war in Ukraine.

The action of the government of Biden, who after about two months is no longer the president of the United States, has been taken after months of requests by the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to ask the United States to allow him to use the country's missiles to hit the interior of Russia.

For its part, the French newspaper Le Figaro has reported that, after the White House allowed Ukraine to use long-range missiles of the United States to attack Russian territory, two other Western countries, namely France and England, have also allowed Ukraine to use their weapons to attack areas the deepest part of the land of Russia.

From time to time, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has been asking the leaders of the United States to allow him to use the weapons they give him to attack the airports, missile facilities of Russia, as well as the weapons warehouses and the Russian influenza centers.

The action shows that there is a fundamental change in the positions of the three most influential countries in the Western NATO forces, namely the United States, the United Kingdom and France. It clearly shows that the goal of those countries is to incite violence and war in Ukraine. Those countries have given permission to Ukraine to use as it wants the weapons provided by Western countries to hit any place it wants in the territory of Russia.

However, due to Russia's warning that the action of the Western countries will lead to Ukraine's complete destruction and even its eradication, the United Nations wants to be prevented from worsening the situation.

Antonio Guterres, while responding to the New York Times report that US President Joe Biden has authorized attacks on Russian soil using long-range missiles made by the US, has emphasized that: 'The escalation of the war in Ukraine must be avoided as soon as possible.'

There is no doubt that, inciting Ukraine, which is being done in the West with new steps in this field and insisting on the top leaders of Kiev, especially Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, to continue a fierce and fruitless war will only cause more human losses to Ukraine and increase the damage to that country.
