2.5-fold increase in gas prices in Germany after Western sanctions against Russia
According to Sputnik, data published by the German Statistical Office,... in 2023 the country imported 2.5 times less gas than 2 years ago, but during this period it failed to keep prices low and the price of gas in Germany after Western sanctions against Russia under the pretext of war in Ukraine increased by 2.5 times. German gas imports in the first 9 months of 2023 decreased from 65.9 billion cubic meters in the same period last year (2022) to 47.9 billion cubic meters and, at the same time, the average annual price of each cubic meter of gas went from 0.18 euros in 2021 to 0.45 in 2021. The year 2023 has risen. The US and European countries have imposed extensive sanctions against Russia and sent billions of dollars in weapons and military equipment to Ukraine under the pretext of war in Ukraine. Despite unprecedented sanctions and Western efforts to isolate Russia, the Kremlin has managed to keep its economy afloat.
