40% of Muslim men in Germany face discrimination
A new study has revealed that 40 percent of Muslim men in Germany face acts of discrimination in their daily lives, while sabotage and racist attacks against Muslims are reported to be on the rise in the European country. According to a report issued in Berlin by the German Integration and Migration Research Center (Dezim), 41.2 percent of Muslim men are discriminated against every day on the basis of their faith. The report noted that: A third of Muslim men (39%) have reported witnessing cases of racism at the hands of the police, and 51 percent in public offices and when speaking with the country's authorities. Dezim's research has revealed that 46 percent of Muslim women in the country face one or another form of discrimination every day in public offices and government institutions. The director of the Dezim Institute, Frank Kalter says: Racism is part of daily life for Muslims in Germany, and that discrimination is done in different ways, including in the provision of health services. Muslim women in France witness cases of discrimination and hatred against them This report has been released a few days after President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany claimed that Islam is the religion of Germany; amid the rise of racism and Islamophobia fueled by the propaganda of extreme right-wing groups, and parties that have exploited the refugee crisis and tried to incite fear against immigrants. A total of 898 incidents of Islamophobia were recorded in Germany in 2022, with the number of unreported cases high. This is according to a report issued in June by a non-governmental organization based in Berlin, Alliance Against Islamophobia and Muslim Hostility. Among the recorded cases are 500 verbal attacks, including provocative statements, insults, threats and coercion.
