President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia yesterday Thursday called on African countries to use technology to solve the common challenges they face, including illegal immigration and climate change.
Officially opening the second annual meeting of Digital Government Africa in the capital of Zambia, Lusaka, President Hichilema said that the use of technology will enable the African continent to do business within the continent.
However, the President of Zambia has also warned that misuse of technology can destabilize peace and security in the continent.
The President of Zambia has said, "so we leave it to the experts to help us how we can do so that technology brings the development needed for our people in this continent," said President Hakainde Hichilema. At the same time, he said that the African continent is also facing the problem of illegal immigrants.
Today in the southern parts of Africa, we have the worst drought ever to occur at the same time in East Africa; we have floods; all are threats to food security in Africa.
The President of Zambia has also said that technology is important for Africa to produce skilled workers to make its population competitive in the labor market.
