Amnesty International criticizes Germany's chancellor-designate for inviting Netanyahu

The international human rights organization Amnesty International has strongly criticized Friedrich Merz, the prospective German chancellor, for inviting the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime to visit Germany.

Amnesty International has called the move by the German chancellor candidate, who is widely expected to win, a violation of international law.

In parallel with criticizing the leader of the Christian Democratic Union party, the human rights organization said in its statement that:

Not a good start as a prospective chancellor: On the eve of the Bundestag elections, Friedrich Merz appears to have invited Benjamin Netanyahu to Germany, for whom the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant.

Another part of the Amnesty International statement said that this action is tantamount to a "open call" to violate the law and stressed that the new German government must respect international law and human rights institutions without hypocrisy and double standards.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the illegal Israeli regime, is accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.

In November last year (2024), the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant after indicting them for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, where the Zionist regime has waged a brutal war and committed genocide since October 2023.
