Arab Americans who voted for Donald Trump in the predominantly Muslim city of Dearborn, in the state of Michigan, have asked the president-elect to call for an immediate ceasefire in Palestine and Lebanon.
In a letter sent on Instagram, the MENA American Chamber of Commerce, -on behalf of Lebanese Americans-, congratulated Trump on returning to the White House and said, Dearborn "turned red in this presidential election," referring to the color used in media publications by the Republican Party.
Part of the letter reads: "in response to your famous letter to Lebanese Americans dated October 26, 2024, and in light of the increased Israeli attacks following the US election, we urge your leadership and transition team to use your influence politically demanding that war not be threatened immediately in Lebanon and Palestine".
The letter from the Arab Americans continued to explain: "this is consistent with the promise to bring lasting peace that you made in the letter and also in person when signing the Peace Agreements".
Trump has been reminded through the letter that more than 3.5 million MENA Americans, some of whom live in hotly contested states, are proud to contribute to his victory, especially in the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia; and that this success is a testimony of his attention, value and concern of the Americans of the MENA community.
The traditional Democratic stronghold of Dearborn, Michigan, known as the capital of the Arab American community, dealt a surprising blow to the party in the US presidential election due to its support for sabotage and brutal attacks by Israel's Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip.
The city, which is home to North America's largest mosque and has about 250,000 Muslim voters, saw a big change in 2020, when Democrat Joe Biden won Michigan by about 150,000 votes and ousted then-president Trump, who was finishing his term. the first in power.
