Armenia is against providing an extraterritorial corridor to Azerbaijan
During a panel discussion held in the framework of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia said, "There is no territorial unit named "Zangezur" in the sovereign territory of Armenia, and Armenia has never agreed to give an extraterritorial corridor to Azerbaijan."
According to the "Modern Strategy" website, Ruben Rubinyan, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, said during the panel discussion held within the Antalya Diplomatic Forum. "Armenia has never agreed to provide an extraterritorial corridor to Azerbaijan."
"Armenia's position is that the unblocking of regional communications in the South Caucasus should take place according to the principles of the countries' sovereignty, territorial integrity, jurisdiction and equality," said Rubinyan.
High-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran have repeatedly stated that they are against any change of the internationally recognized borders. Some time ago, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir Abdollahian said: "We strongly believe. that in the Caucasus it is time to move from the period of tension and conflicts to the period of peace and cooperation. We welcome the agreements and discussions between Armenia and Azerbaijan in this regard and emphasize once again that we will never accept geopolitical changes in the region and any measures that limit the historical transit routes in the region."
Armenia has repeatedly emphasized that the attempt of the President of Azerbaijan to open regional transport routes has nothing to do with the signed statements and negotiations in this regard and is unacceptable for Armenia. Yerevan is convinced that the creation of this supposed corridor will permanently cut the border between Iran and Armenia and will give Baku an opportunity to enter the autonomous republic of Nakhichevan without hindrance.
