The third US veto of a Security Council resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza revealed “the lies of Western civilization's claims about human rights and the hypocrisy of Westerners in the Gaza issue”, the Leader said Saturday.

“The Westerners, who make noise and uproar for the execution of a criminal, have turned a blind eye to the killing of 30,000 innocent people in Gaza, and the US has brazenly vetoed the resolution to stop bombing Gaza for the umpteenth time,” he said.

“This is the true face of Western culture and civilization and liberal democracy, which on the surface, there are spruced-up politicians with smiles on their faces, but inside, it is a rabid dog and a bloodthirsty wolf,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei likened Western civilization to a “lopsided load that will not reach home”, but “the culture of the righteous and correct logic of Islam will prevail”.

The Leader touched on the Gaza situation, saying it was a manifestation of the miracle of relying on people and religious faith.

“The stoicism of the resistance forces in disappointing the enemy in its bid to destroy them, as well as the fortitude of the people of Gaza in the face of bombings and calamities shows the strong religious faith of these people."

He also touched on the deep-seated enmity of the West with the Islamic Republic, saying the most important problem of the enemies is their lack of knowledge about the people of Iran and Islam.

“The enemies of the Iranian nation, based on their estimates and designs, were sure that the Islamic Republic would not see its 40th birthday,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“But much to their dismay, the progress of Iran did not stop and by God's grace, it will continue, relying on the efforts and will of the people and their religious faith.”

Ayatollah Khamenei recalled the early days of the Islamic movement in Iran until the victory of the Islamic Revolution and after that under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, saying the late founder of the Islamic Republic always laid his trust in the people.

Imam Khomeini, the Leader said, deemed Islam as an effective school and way of thinking for politics and management of society, which enabled him to create the ground for Iran's progress and the continuation of great movements.

“What led to the stability and progress of the Islamic system and its overcoming of many obstacles and conspiracies was the combination of trust in the people’s republic and Islam,” he said.

“And the way to overcome problems in the future is the continuation of this thinking,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.
