Belgium-Liege freezes relations with Israel
The municipality of the Belgian city of Liège has decided to freeze its relations with the occupying regime in Palestine and all its public and private institutions, due to its clear violation of the rights of the Palestinian people. The decision, which obtained a majority of members of the city council, was presented by the Belgian Labor Party, the Green Party, the Socialist Party and the Vega Movement. All member groups confirmed their support for the Palestinian people, “who have been suffering for so long from Israeli Apartheid and of the settlements.” The decision also confirmed the municipality's support for the BDS movement and its refusal to deal with any institution that has ties to the settlements or that has a role in perpetuating the Israeli occupation, in accordance with the national and European Union laws. Stressed that the regime of Apartheid, colonization and military occupation of Israel violates the European system of human rights and the norms of international law
