British Prime Minister backs anti-boat people bill

The British government wants to stop boat people with a new asylum law, this was supported by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

With a new law, London wants to ensure that all those who enter the country illegally are immediately deported - either to their home country or to a safe third country. They should be denied the right to apply for asylum in Britain. Only when they have been deported should their applications be heard and checked remotely.

Britain's Prime Minister on Tuesday said it was difficult but necessary.

The current situation (with immigrants) is neither ethical nor sustainable and cannot continue. This situation is totally unfair to the British people.

The number of illegal boat people has more than quadrupled in the last two years, Sunak explained.

He also claimed that migrants entering the UK illegally are not from countries at war and are not fleeing prosecution or an imminent threat to their lives.

"If no action is taken, the situation will only get worse," added the British Prime Minister.
