Call for UN spokesman to end conflicts in Sudan immediately
The UN Special Representative for Sudan demanded an immediate end to the conflicts in the southern and western provinces of Kordofan. According to AAA News Agency, Volker Perthes, in a statement on Sunday evening, emphasizing the cessation of conflicts in the southern and western provinces of Kordofan, called on the parties to the conflict to return to dialogue and said: "The latest military events in the two provinces of Kordofan are regrettable." Perthes called on all influential military forces in Sudan to prevent hostilities and protect civilians and infrastructure, as otherwise these actions will lead to an escalation of the armed conflict.
According to the diplomat, Sudan has witnessed powerful explosions in the districts of Al-Dim, Al-Sahafa and Al-Ashra in the south of Khartoum, the country's capital, since Sunday morning. Since April 15, a conflict has been observed in Sudan between the army of this country under the command of Abd al-Fattah al-Barkhan and operational support forces under the command of Mohammed Hamdan Daglo (Hamidati) in various regions of Sudan, including Khartoum and other cities in the north and west of the country. Despite efforts to establish a ceasefire, no progress has been made in ending the conflicts, and even numerous temporary ceasefires have been violated by shelling from both sides.
